Missoula and Bozeman Community Nights

We are thrilled to bring two Rut Community nights to life this June in our largest communities of Bozeman and Missoula.  It’s a long time between sign up and the start line, therefore, we are striving to create opportunities for our Rut runners to come together and connect along the way.  Read on to learn more about these two fun and unique events. In addition to our community nights, we are hosting training runs on the actual Rut courses! You can learn more about the Big Sky training runs in Big Sky on August 3rd.

Bozeman Community Night | Wednesday, June 19th

Our Bozeman Rut community night will be hosted at The Mountain Project Gym on Wednesday, June 19th.  The evening will consist of group runs from the gym, The North Face shoe demos, nutrition products from skratch labs, and pizza and drinks following the run. The main attraction of the evening will be a  Rut Themed live storytelling at the Mountain Project after the run. This is in conjunction with the TMP Mountain Yarns live storytelling series and we are stoked to hear some great stories from the Rut community.

Date: Wednesday, June 19, 2024

Location: The Mountain Project Gym | Bozeman, MT (Map)

Register:  This event is FREE, but you must RSVP here so we can plan accordingly.

Schedule:

  • 5:30-6:30 PM – Group Runs from the Gym (we will have a 4 mile and 7 mile option)
  • 6:30-7:00 PM – Post-run pizza and beverages back at the gym
  • 7:00-8:00 PM – Live Story Telling with Rut-Themed Mountain Yarns with a raffle of goodies from our Rut partners.

That’s right, live Rut storytelling to inspire you, or perhaps strike fear into you, by fellow Rut runners.  The evening will feature 3 storytellers from our community, who will share their own Rut story in 10-15 minutes with a short Q&A at the end.   We are seeking our storytellers, so please fill out this form by June 1 to be considered!  We would love to hear your story.

Missoula Community Night | Thursday, June 13th

The Missoula Rut community night will be hosted in The Phyllis Washington Park at the base of the ‘M’ Trail on Thursday evening, June 13th.  The evening will consist of group runs, The North Face shoe demos, a raffle with goodies from our Rut partners, and pizza and drinks following the run.

After the run, Rut Race Director Mike Foote will host a conversation called “30 Questions You May (Or May Not) Have About Ultrarunning” with author, artist, humorist, Rut Runner, and Missoula local, Brendan Leonard, with a Q&A to follow. Following the talk, Brendan will sign and sell copies of his new book, Ultra-Something.

If you aren’t aware of Brendan’s work, he is the creator of, among many other things, the Semi-Rad blog and Instagram account.

From Brendans Website: I created Semi-Rad.com as a channel for those of us who aren’t elite climbers, skiers, ultrarunners, and alpinists—the folks who love to get out there, but maybe don’t take it too seriously. Semi-Rad is enthusiasm for things regular folks can do, adventures for the everyperson. It’s a web site for those of us crushing it, kind of. I hope you enjoy it.
